About Orchards Children’s Services

Laura, an LMSW, has proudly dedicated over 25 years to Orchards, growing through a variety of direct service and leadership roles along the way. Her dedication has always been in prevention and family preservation, and in her current role, she finds great meaning in supporting program teams as they deliver compassionate, high-quality services to families. Throughout her career, Laura has built strong, trusted relationships with community partners, MDHHS, and referring sources. She values collaboration and connection, and she consistently brings people together to support the wellbeing of children, families, and the community as a whole.

Kelsey has been part of the Orchards team for over 16 years, starting her career as a foster care worker and growing into a number of leadership roles supporting children and families along the way. Today, she serves as the Program Officer of Placement Services, where she oversees Foster Care, Adoption, Licensing, and family preservation programs, with a strong focus on supporting families involved in the foster care system.

Kelsey is passionate about ensuring quality care and accountability, and she works closely with her teams to maintain compliance with Child Placing Agency Licensing Rules and contractual standards. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Michigan State University and her master’s in social work from Wayne State University. Kelsey is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and also enjoys mentoring and helping to supervise interns at the agency.

Kelsey joined Orchards Children’s Services in February 2022. She plays an integral role on both the Accounting and Finance teams, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer to provide financial reporting and support across accounting and operations and provide data-driven analysis and insights. Prior to joining Orchards, Kelsey gained 8 years of experience holding various accounting and financial analyst roles at Domino’s Pizza Inc. and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Michigan University.

Camille joined Orchards as Controller in February 2024. In this role, she leads the organization’s core financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit coordination. She ensures strong fiscal stewardship, informs executive decision‑making, and reinforces the financial systems that uphold Orchards’ mission.

With a 30‑year career spanning public accounting, for‑profit enterprises, government agencies, and nonprofit finance, Camille brings a broad and well‑rounded perspective to organizational financial management. Her previous roles include Senior Auditor at KPMG and Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager for the Tennessee Education Lottery.

Camille holds an MBA from Wayne State University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business. She is passionate about developing accounting staff, teaching best practices, and building reliable financial processes that strengthen the long‑term wellbeing of families and the communities that support them.

Erica Ciupak joined Orchards Childrens Services in May 2026 and oversees the Information Technology needs of the organization. She brings over 2 decades of IT leadership and technology planning experience to Orchards, with a focus on strong security systems and collaboration tools.

Prior to joining Orchards, Erica held leadership roles in several diverse industries, including non-profit, higher education, manufacturing, and healthcare. She is a graduate of Indiana University.

Erica strives to provide the Orchards team access to the tools and resources to meet our mission supporting children, families, and our communities.

Jocelyn began her career at Orchards in 2007 and has built a diverse career spanning child welfare, compliance, and Human Resources. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree in Counseling from Oakland University, bringing a strong foundation in supporting individuals and organizations alike. Now a SHRM-certified HR leader with more than 20 years of experience, Jocelyn combines over a decade of compliance leadership with the past 5+ years in HR. She is passionate about creating people-centered workplaces where compliance and culture work together to drive meaningful results.

Stephanie joined the Orchards team in November 2025. She has nearly 20 years of experience in a variety of fundraising roles and is excited to return to raising funds for children, a cause that is near and dear to her heart. She has always viewed fundraising as more than a career—it is a way to connect deeply with people and purpose, both personally and professionally.

A native of the Metro Detroit area, Stephanie graduated from Michigan State University with dual degrees in Marketing and German. Her fundraising career began with event fundraising at Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. While at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, her work expanded to include corporate and major giving.

Stephanie later held major gift roles at Michigan Medicine, Make-A-Wish Michigan, and Michigan State University. In March 2023, she joined Wayne State University, where she was promoted to Director of Development in 2024. In that role, she managed two Major Gift Officers and mentored two additional fundraisers.

Stephanie has completed certifications through Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in Major Gifts and through Plus Delta Partners in the Discipline of Frontline Fundraising.

Dr. Darryl Gardner serves as Vice Provost for Student Success, Support, and Engagement at Wayne State University. Gardner is responsible for providing strategic oversight to a comprehensive suite of services, programs, and units – each designed to enhance various aspects of the student experience. These include the University Advising Center, Academic Success Center, College Transition Initiatives and First-Year Experience, Student Disability Services, Housing and Residential Life, Dean of Students Office, Student Auxiliary Services, Campus Reservations, Gadson Office for Military and Veterans Academic Excellence, Warrior 360, Federal TRIO Programs, Learning Communities, Warrior Way Back and several other student-facing programs and services. Additionally, he oversees K-12 and Precollege initiatives. 

Gardner has served as a strategic lead for retention and graduation since joining the Division of Academic Affairs in 2019. With Gardner’s vision and leadership, Wayne State has achieved record-high four and six-year graduation rates and first-to-second year retention rates of 80% or higher for six consecutive years. This work has been nationally recognized as a model for student success innovation and transformation. Moreover, Gardner has played a key role in launching the next phase of the university’s strategic retention efforts, Student Success 2.0: Every Warrior Rises, and was the visionary behind the establishment of the Student Success HUB. 

Dr. Gardner previously served as teaching faculty and director of the Emerging & Rising Scholars programs in the Department of Mathematics at Wayne State. He also served as the dean of students for the nationally recognized Math Corps program and led the national expansion efforts in Philadelphia, PA — in partnership with Drexel University. His efforts have expanded globally, and he was honored with the 2019 CEMATHS Award for his work and advocacy for mathematics literacy in Ghana. He is also an alum of the prestigious Leadership Detroit program and recipient of the Michigan Chronicle’s 2025 Men of Excellence Award. 

A proud lifelong Detroiter, Gardner is deeply committed to youth development and community wellness. He is the co-founder of City Glow Yoga, an initiative that brings wellness experiences to Detroit neighborhoods, and serves as board chair for Orchards Children’s Services. 

Aaron Huguley serves as the Deputy Chief of Investigations and Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Southfield Police Department (SPD). He has been in law enforcement for seventeen years and a recent graduate of the FBI National Academy (2025).

Huguley oversees the detective bureau, court services, Southfield Detention Center, detectives, taskforce officers, and the property room. In his role as PIO, he is responsible for generating news releases and organizing news conferences with local media to keep the community aware of public safety concerns and community engagement activities throughout the City of Southfield. During his tenure with SPD, Huguley has served in several capacities to include school resource officer, detective, training instructor, sergeant, field training supervisor, patrol lieutenant, and peer support team coordinator.

Fran Grossman is a retired educator who spent 32 years teaching children with learning disabilities and emotional impairments from preschool through high school. After retiring, she dedicated herself to volunteerism and community service.

In Detroit, she serves on the board of the National Council of Jewish Women, where she has tutored children, chaired a program providing clothing and school supplies to 900 students, supported Meals on Wheels, and helped organize the NCJW Resale Store. She recently received the Marsha Zucker Exemplary Board Member Award from NCJW/MI. Fran also serves on the Orchards Board as Chair of the Development Committee. She is also a Grand Circle of Women for Jewish Hospice and Chaplaincy and is a Gatekeeper for Hadassah, supporting medical research in Israel. She has also been involved with the Michigan Animal Rescue League in Pontiac.

On a personal level, for the past 22 years, Fran has traveled with her husband, David, and their dog to Scottsdale, Arizona. There she enjoys playing Canasta, reading, cooking, doing Pilates, going on hikes, enjoying the wonderful food and sights in Scottsdale,

Carmen M. McIntyre León, M.D. is the Associate Chair, Community Affairs for the Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, Director of the Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship, and the Interim Chair for Neurosurgery.

She also serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the Michigan Department of Corrections. She has 35 years of experience in research, clinical, teaching and leadership positions in public and community mental health; as well as public policy and health leadership positions in corrections.

Elgin Cooper is a strategic IT leader with over 30 years of experience delivering high-impact technology and business transformation initiatives across the automotive, healthcare, and consulting sectors. Known for building high-performing teams and championing diversity, equity, and inclusion, he is a dedicated servant leader and mentor. 

Emily Snow is the General Manager/Vice President at Enterprise Mobility overseeing the Southwest Ontario market since 2024.

After graduating from the University of Maryland, majoring in Spanish and International Business, she joined Enterprise as a Management Trainee in the New York market in 2005. Committed to strengthening communities one neighborhood at a time, Emily has served on the Board at Orchards since 2021. 

Jerold Hawkins is a Orchard’s Children Services alum and proud U.S. Army veteran with more than 18 years of progressive corporate experience spanning multiple interconnected business disciplines, including Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, IT, Finance, and Manufacturing Excellence. He has held leadership roles at globally recognized companies such as AT&T, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors. 

Mr. Hawkins served as the Senior Director of Global Supply Chain Management at Aptiv, where he drove strategic sourcing and operational excellence across the region. In April of 2026 Jerold started Summit Line Federal Solutions which uses his proprietary readiness methodology Defense Expansion Pathway™ — DXP™.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Hawkins holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Corporate Communications from Oakland University. Beyond his professional achievements, he is deeply committed to family life and is the proud father of two daughters, ages 14 and 13! 

Lora has more than 20 years of experience in the financial operations industry. She specializes in CFO and advisory services for not-for-profit organizations. Lora’s passion lies in helping mission-driven entities amplify their impact through strategic outsourcing, financial leadership, and operational excellence. With a focus on efficiency and innovation, she works closely with executive teams to streamline accounting processes, improve resource allocation, and boost organizational performance.

She has deep experience partnering with a wide range of not-for-profits, guiding them through financial challenges and equipping them with the strategic insights needed to thrive. Lora guarantees that every organization she works with can confidently pursue their mission while maintaining a solid fiscal foundation. Whether it’s implementing robust financial frameworks, mentoring in-house teams, or advising on long-term growth initiatives, she is committed to delivering high-impact CFO and advisory services.

Lora earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Maryland Global Campus and a Bachelor of Arts in History/Political Science from Pensacola Christian College. She is also the Finance Committee Chair of Spur Local, a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, since 2021.

Risha has been involved in education and the lives of children throughout her adult life. After retirement as a school administrator she stepped up her volunteer work and has served as president of her synagogue, serves as past president of Jewish Historical Society of Michigan, on the Board of NCJW, BBYO Adult Board, president of the Westchester Village HOA, Board vice president of Summit Academy North Academy, and a consultant for CMU serving on their Educational Program Review team.

Most importantly, she spends time with her two grandsons who live close by with their parents, Jared and Lisa Rothberger and visits her daughter, Amy Rothberger, who lives in Brooklyn.

Risha holds a Bachelor of Science degree, a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum, a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration, and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.
